Lieder for piano (Lieder fuer Klavier) หรือ Songs for the Piano Op. 8 ประกอบด้วยบทเพลงสำหรับเปียโนจำนวน 4 บท บทประพันธ์ที่จะนำมาเล่นในวันนี้เป็นบทเพลงลำดับที่ 3 ในบันไดเสียง Db major ในจังหวะเนิบช้าฟังสบาย หรือ Larghetto โดยท่อนนี้มีชื่อเรียกว่า “Lied” หรือเพลงร้อง เราสามารถเรียกบทเพลงที่เป็นเสมือนเพลงร้องที่นำมาบรรเลงเดี่ยวบนเปียโนได้อีกแบบว่า “Songs without Words” อันเป็นลักษณะทางดนตรีที่สำคัญของทั้งแฟนนี่ และเฟลิกซ์ เมนเดลโซห์น และดนตรีตะวันตกในช่วงยุคโรแมนติก แนวทำนองดั่งเสียงร้องซึ่งเป็น motif ของเพลงบทนี้จะแอบซ่อนอยู่ตามที่ต่างๆ ตลอดทั้งบทเพลง ทั้งแนวบน แนวกลาง และแนวเบส นับเป็นความท้าทายในการเล่นอย่างหนึ่ง ที่ต้องบรรเลงออกมาให้ได้ประหนึ่งว่าเปียโนกำลังร้องเพลง
Fanny Mendelssohn’s published works under her own name are 11 opus numbers in total, but she composed actually over 460 songs and pieces - some remain unpublished, some were published without opus numbers after her death. In her works with opus, Op. 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 were songs for piano, or short piano pieces called ‘Songs without Words’. The other published opuses are lieder with piano and STAB in Op. 3, and piano trio Op. 11.
There are 4 numbers in Song for the Piano Op. 8. The number I'll perform today is No. 3, a Larghetto tuneful piece called ‘Lied’ in D-flat major. The motif melodies are hidden everywhere throughout the piece. One of the most challenging things in playing this type of music is to make the piano sings.
